"And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?"  Matthew 24.3

What do we know about the end of the world?  Just as importantly, what don't we know?  And how should we live in light of this knowledge?  These are extremely important questions.  There are surely signs that call attention to what the Scriptures prophesy will come to pass.  We do not know how bad things will get before Jesus catches His Church away, but we do know a day of reckoning is coming, and God's Holy Word extends a loving invitation to surrender your life to Jesus and be ready, whenever your time may be to meet Christ.  Every sinner must bow their heart in repentance and faith before the One who is both Savior and King.

Are you ready to meet Jesus TODAY?  That's the most important question you'll ever answer.  The Bible says it's not "if" but "when" will Jesus Christ come for His Church and then come back to judge the earth.  While the Bible makes it clear that no human knows when the world will end, it also says there will be signs that Jesus' return is approaching.  And if His return is approaching, the catching away of His Church is even closer.  Are you ready?  The signs are calling our attention to the One who knows the signs and the when of the end time events - keep looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2)

"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself;  that where I am, there ye may be also."  John 14:3

Imagine the Bible with no prophecies in it.  Suppose God had decided not to tell us anything about His future purposes for the Church, the nation of Israel, and the world.  Imagine if we were not told about the ultimate victory over evil, and our future home in heaven and eternity.  If God had left prophecies out of His Word, we would have no idea of what the future holds.  Instead, all we would know is that the world we live in is descending deeper and deeper into darkness, evil, and hopelessness.

Because God chose to provide us with glimpses of the glorious future that awaits us, we can live with hope.  And when Jesus returns for His Church (all of His followers from the establishment of the church in Acts 2 to the day He comes in the clouds), when the Church is caught away, an archangel will announce this event, and a trumpet of God will sound.  All the believers who died in the Lord and the living believers will experience a transformation and receive new bodies and be taken to heaven.

First Corinthians 15:51-52 says, "Behold!  I tell you a mystery.  We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.  For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed."

As followers of Jesus, we have this hope.  And John tells us in his first letter, (1 John 3:3),  "And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure."  God calls us to live righteously, share the gospel, make disciples, and love others.  As we await Jesus' return for the Church, let us glorify God by living transformed lives (1 Corinthians 10:31).

"I will call for a sword against Gog throughout all My mountains, says the Lord GOD.  And I will bring him to judgment...;  I will rain down on him, ....  Thus I will magnify Myself and sanctify Myself, and I will be known in the eyes of many nations.  Then they shall know that I am the LORD."  Ezekiel 38:21-23

You can know TODAY, that Jesus is Lord and your one true hope in the midst of life's ups and downs.  A day is coming soon when the nations of the earth will rise against Israel, God's chosen people, and God will defeat them.  There is a log of debate who "Gog" is.  No one knows.  What we do know is there will be a coalition of armies against Israel and God will show how great He is.  He will come against them, and all those nations will turn on one another.  Then God will judge them as He divinely protects Israel, His chosen people.  God will do then what He has done in the past -- He will show His greatness and holiness to the world and make Himself known in the eyes of the nations that came against His people.

Then whey wll know that He is the Lord.  On the grand scale, this is going to be an incredible scene.  On a personal level, we need to remember that God knows every hair on our heads.  Things never get so big that He forgets us.  He never loses us in the midst of sustaining the whole world (Heb. 1:3).  The forces of darkness cannot penetrate His love for us.  God is so great that He can take care of the forces of darkness that come against His kingdom and still show tender love to us when our heart is hurting.  Keep your hope in Jesus Christ.  He will never leave you nor forsake you.

"And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with...cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.  36  Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man."  Luke 21:34, 36 (KJV)

The current conditions happening around the globe, surely points to the reality that we are living in the last days.  As such, Christians are faced with such challenges to our faith that we will need extraordinary strength to escape their destructive effects.  Both end-time church attendance and end-time prayer are designed by God to supply His people with the power to persevere through the extraordinary threats of the last days.  "Understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty" (2Tim. 3:1).  Peter and Jesus unite to tell us:  stay sober for the sake of prayer in order to make it through these difficulties.

One of the prayers the Lord Jesus taught us to pray is, "Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven" (Matt. 6:10).  There are layers of meaning in this request, just as there are layers of meaning in the coming of the kingdom.  The kingdom comes progressively as the saving reign of Christ is established in the hearts of more and more people (Rom. 5:21; 14:17; 1 Cor. 4:20; Col. 1:13).  But the ultimate fulfillment of "Your kingdom come" is the establishment of Christ's kingdom in the new heavens and the new earth (1 Cor. 15:24; 2 Tim. 4:1).

So as we pray for the kingdom to come, we are praying that God will not only establish His reign in our own hearts ever more fully, but would also advance His saving work in evangelism and world missions, and that He would bring history to a climax in the coming of Jesus.  Hence our end-time prayers include the prayer for "the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest" (Matt. 9:38), and that He wrap up history absolutely and come:  "Our Lord, come!" (maranatha, 1 Cor. 16:22(. "Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!" (Rev. 22:20).
