And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search
for me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13.
Are you looking for God right now? Are you seeking Him
out for the help you desperately need? Are you facing
a situation or circumstance that requires the Lord's help?
If you answered yes to either of these questions, scripture
declares that if you seek Him with your "whole heart" you
will find Him.
Seeking God means seeking His presence, seeking
fellowship and intimacy with Him one on one, seeking His
thoughts and His ways of doing things and seeking Him for
guidance and direction for your life.
God is waiting to hear from you today with arms open
wide to receive you once you seek Him. He wants to
have fellowship with you and He wants you to know that your
conversations with Him are desired.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to
your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and
He will direct your paths" Proverbs 3:5-6
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart" - what does that
mean? It means placing our heart at the Lord's feet.
This surrender leaves no room for our own anxiety or worry,
but completely entrusts our "being" to God's sovereignty.
And as unsettling as that may sound or even as frightening
as it maybe, the next part of this verse is necessary for
the "trusting" to lead to "His holding." You see, to
"lean not on your own understanding" is to lean
completely into strong arms of God's holding. It means
to not rely on ourselves, essentially letting go of what we
think we know and letting God take the helm of what He
perfectly knows.
Solomon writes, "In all your ways acknowledge Him":
not some ways or some days, but always with all our ways.
This means to admit the existence, reality, and
trustworthiness of God.

"Only fear the Lord, and serve him in truth with all
your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for
you." 1 Samuel 12:24
Samuel stated clearly in 1
Samuel 12 that the people were rebellious and sinful, most
notably in asking for a king over them like the surrounding
nations. He tells them to stand and watch God's
witness against them as He made thunder and rain to come
during the harvest time, which was normally the dry season.
"So all the people stood in awe of the Lord and of Samuel.
The people cried out to Samuel: "Pray to the Lord your God
for your servants so that we will not die, for we have added
to all our other sins the evil of asking for a king."
Israel had sinned, yet God was merciful and gave
Israel an opportunity to repent and serve the Lord with
their whole heart. Are you serving the Lord with your
whole heart today? Does your expression of love for
Christ impact the example you display daily as you serve the
Lord and others?

"And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God
of hosts!," 1 Kings 19:10
To many people, the word
jealousy is laden with negative connotations. In
scripture, however, we read that "the Lord, whose name is
Jealous, is a jealous God." God is rightfully jealous
for His own glory and for the devotion of His covenant
people. Holy jealousy also characterizes the most
godly men and women.
Elijah was one who served the Lord whole heartedly and
was driven by his jealousness for the Lord God of hosts.
Elijah was God's prophet who deeply desired that Yahweh be
glorified so that nothing competed with Him for his devotion
and worship. Do you have anything competing for your
devotion and worship, if so, will you honestly examine your
life and determine what you are most jealous or zealous for?
The Bible includes many examples of godly people who
are jealous (zealous) for God's honor. Whenever
religious reform and revival were brought about in Israel,
behind it always stood a jealous leader. Whether it
was Elijah praying down fire from heaven (1 Kings 18),
Hezekiah smashing the sacred pillars and cutting down
Asherah poles (2 Kings 18:3-4: 19:15-19), Jehoiada
tearing down the house and altars of Baal (2 Kings
11:17-18), or Josiah removing the high places (2 Kings
23:19), jealousy on behalf of God's name, and His exclusive
right to receive worship and covenant fidelity, was a
primary motivating emotion.
Are you jealous for God? Are you intensely
desirous for the preservation of God's honor? Be
jealous for God! |
