"To
every thing there is a season, and a time to
every purpose under the heaven:" Ecclesiastes 3:1
There is one unshakable truth that is timeless,
regardless of our circumstances: God is eternal and
sovereign over every season. While seasons come and
go, God faithfully endures as our strength. Solomon
provides the scope of God's sovereignty - everything in and
under heaven (v.1). Further, he lists 14 pairs of
activities, each pair comprises the range of human
experience from birth to death, from war to peace, and
everything in between.
The point of Solomon's list is
not to discern how to attain a season of blessing and avoid
a season of burden. Instead, the point is rather for
us to muse and marvel at the purposes of God, which we can
only begin to understand. Time is a treasured gift.
We can waste time by numbering our complaints, or we can
redeem time by counting our blessings. God is
sovereign, wise, and good, and we must trust what He is
doing in our life.

"...I
have come that they may have life, and that
they may have it more abundantly."
John 10:10
One might say that
John 10:10 is Jesus' mission statement:
"I came thay they may have life and have
it abundantly." Western culture
defines "abundantly" one way, and within the
context of this verse, it is defined another
way. To the Western culture,
"abundantly" is focused on fine dining,
designer clothes, a luxury car, or perfect
health, the spouse of our dreams, and
worldwide fame. Yet this meaning falls
short of Jesus' meaning. Jesus'
understnading of the abundant life is not
about the best of earthly things now, it is
so much more.
Jesus unpacks what He
means by the "abundant life" a few verses
after John 10:10 saying: "My sheep
hear my voice, and I know them, and they
follow me. I give them eternal life,
and they will never perish, and no one will
snatch them out of my hand" (John 10:27-28).
Jesus' abundant life is about eternal life,
an assured life, and a secure life - that is
living abundantly.

"For the
vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it
will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries,
wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not
tarry." Habakkuk 2:3 NKJV
Do you ever
struggle with patience? Specifically with patiently
trusting in God to work things out in time, in His time, not
according to our time? Is this a struggle in your own
heart and life? If so, may the words of Habakkuk
chapter two, verse three encourage you, because in it God
reminds us if what we are praying for or believing for seems
slow, wait. Habakkuk was assured that the answer will
surely come, it will not delay. The fact that God says
in His word, "If it seems slow," clearly communicates that
there are times when things will seem slow in our lives.
We may find ourselves wondering, why is this continuing?
Why is this still happening? If it seems slow, God
says, "Wait for it." HABAKKUK 2:3 REMINDS US GOD'S
COMMANDMENT TO WAIT. And as we wait, we pray:
God, we ask You to help us to wait, rest trustfully in You,
and not be anxious. God, deliver us from worry.
We pray that You would help us not to be anxious about
anything, but in all these things with thanksgiving to
present our requests to You, to cry out to You with what we
long to see You do. And as we trust in You and rest in
You, we pray that Your peace that passes all understanding
would guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. AMEN.

"...then
Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, 'Go into
the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a
donkey tied, and a colt with her. Loose them and bring
them to Me.'" Matthew 21:1-2 KNJV
Palm
Sunday, also known as Passion Sunday, is the start of the
journey to the cross. As Jesus approached Jerusalem,
He sent two disciples ahead for preparation. A donkey
was selected for His ride into town (fulfilling Zechariah
9:9).
The savior entered the city with shouts of joy
from the people gathered. Cloaks and palm branches
covered the road as the anticipated King arrived.
Everyone seemed to be happy on Palm Sunday.
Sadly,
the tone would soon change as their hero would be arrested,
tried, and crucified. In this arrival, the crowds
wanted a Messiah who would give political and national
rescue. Jesus had a better mission. His mission
was to save sinful man and woman--by the gift of His own
blood - a plan the people did not understand. There
was much about the Passion Week that the disciples, the
people, and the religious leaders did not understand.
We too sometimes fail to understand what God is doing, but
when we do not understnad, we can trust Him.
