"And now abideth
faith, hope, charity, these three; but the
greatest of these is charity. 1
Corinthians 13:13 (KJV)
Of all the gifts
and graces that are poured out in great
abundance into the lives of believers, there
are three that out-shine and out-last all
others. When prophecy is complete,
languages cease, signs are silenced... and
miracles of health, healing, provision, and
protection are no longer needed. We
are told that these three, biblical virtues
will continue and will remain and abide into
the eternal state - faith, hope, and love.
Both faith and hope are a beautiful
manifestation of the love of God in the life
of a believer, because we live by faith and
not by sight; and we live in hope of
our promised, eternal state... while we live
in incorruptible bodies. But love is
the greatest of all, for we will experience
God's love in an ever increasing measure -
not only in this present age but in the
eternal ages to come.

"And now abideth
faith, hope, charity, these three; but the
greatest of these is charity. 1
Corinthians 13:13 (KJV)
God offers us
real and lasting hope, a hope that not only
points us to our eternal life but also gets
us through the difficult struggles in life
right now. We are promised a future
filled with hope (Jeremiah 29:11), because
hope is a part of God's plan for us (Romans
15:13). When we exhibit this hope to
others, it is winsome and encouraging.
Those around us will want to know the reason
for the hope that we have. Thank God
for hope - hope in Christ and God's
wonderful promises.

"Be
joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all
circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ
Jesus" 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Thomas Merton
wrote "To be grateful is to recognize the love of God in
everything God has given us. Every breath we draw is a
gift of his love; every moment of existence is a grace.
Gratitude therefore takes nothing for granted, is never
unresponsive, is constantly awakening to new wonder and
praise." "Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His
mercy endures forever" Psalm 106:1.

"Bless
the Lord, O my soul; And all that is
within me, bless His holy name!" Psalm
103:1
In Psalm 103, the
psalmist King David commands both his soul
and the nation he leads to celebrate God's
compassion towards them. David first
addresses his soul (Psalm 103:1). God
has not only forgiven his sins, healed his
diseases, and rescued him from certain death
but showered him with love, satisfied all
his desires, and given him strength when he
felt weak (Psalm 103:3-5). God has
been consistently compassionate to David, so
he tells himself to praise his soul's
guardian and provider.
Let us take
the opportunity this week as we gather with
family and friends to bless the Lord and
give thanks for God's multifold blessings.
