Paul makes it clear
in his letter to the Ephesians that those in Christ are
richly blessed. As one who is richly blessed, we are called
to bless God and praise Him who has bestowed such blessings
on us. Consider how richly blessed you are, if you are IN
CHRIST:
Blessed! Granted peace
Given an inheritance
A son (child) in God's family
Sealed with the Holy Spirit
Holy & blameless in God's sight
Lavished with God's amazing grace
Redeemed (bought back) and forgiven
Chosen before the foundation of the world
Declare your blessings
today, as you bless and praise Him who has blessed you!

“Blessed be the God and Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in
Christ with every spiritual blessing.”
Ephesians 1:3
This is a simple statement, yet an extremely complex
statement. But the purpose of this statement is to
remind those who are “IN CHRIST” of something very
important: That we begin this each day and each week
as people who have been blessed with every spiritual
blessing. That’s a wonderful way to begin any day or
any week. So let us remind ourselves that we are
already blessed, IN Jesus Christ, with every
spiritual blessing.
Think about this: everything important has already
been given to those who are IN CHRIST. Everything
eternal, everything undying, everything that we can
truly count on, come what may, we have already been
given. We have already been blessed in Jesus Christ
with every spiritual blessing. Whatever you might
face, whatever life challenge you may presently be
struggling, remember, YOU are still blessed. You are
blessed, because YOU can know that God loves you,
and blesses you in Jesus with every spiritual
blessing.
So may you be encouraged to begin each day and each
week by remembering this simple, wonderful fact:
That in Jesus, YOU are truly blessed.

“In Whom (Christ)
we have…” Ephesians 1:
Throughout the book
of Ephesians, Paul reminds his readers of
how they are and what they have in Christ.
In the opening chapter, in verse 3 he says
that we've been blessed with every spiritual
blessing "in Christ."
Verse 5 says that
we've been predestined to adoption "through
Jesus Christ."
Verse 6 says that
we've been given grace in Jesus, "the One he
loves."
Verse 7 says that
it's in Christ that we have redemption –
being bought out of slavery to sin – and
also forgiveness of sins. And it tells us of
the price that has been paid to bring us
freedom and forgiveness: "through his
blood."
Verse 9 says
that God purposed the mystery of his will
"in Christ. Verse 13 says that the Gentile
believers of this letter have been included
"in Christ." All the blessings of God are
found in Christ.
Pastor and preacher,
Martyn Lloyd-Jones said: If you leave out
the "in Christ," you will never have any
blessings at all…Every blessing we enjoy as
Christian people comes to us through the
Lord Jesus Christ…
Paul is writing
here to Christian people, and his concern is
that they should understand and grasp the
special blessings and privileges possible to
them as Christians; and so he emphasizes
that all those blessings come in and through
the Lord Jesus Christ, and in and through
Him alone. There are no blessings for
Christians apart from Him.

The following is a
condensed version of the article published on the
IPHC blog and written by Bishop Tommy McGhee about
Pastor Appreciation Day:
"Paul encouraged
Timothy to "make full proof" of his ministry in 2
Timothy 4:5. With these words, this young
minister was challenged to demonstrate the true
characteristics of a person and pastor who is called
by God, and is obedient and faithful to him. A
pastors role is about being and doing. Pastors
who fulfill the Biblical role, as demonstrated by
our Lord and instructed by the Apostle Paul, should
be acknowledged and honored by the church.
As we approach
"Pastor Appreciation Day", I want you to consider
the following acrostic for the word PASTOR.
P - Preacher - The preacher is to "Exalt the
Savior."
A - Administrator - An administrator has the
responsibility to "Establish the Structure."
S - Shepherd - The Shepherd should "Encourage the
Sheep."
T - Teacher - As a teacher, the pastor must "Equip
the Saints."
O - Overseer - The Overseer must diligently and
continually "Examine the Spirits."
R - Restorer - The Restorer should "Extend the
Staff."
The work and
burdens of these servants of God have never been
greater. One of the greatest needs of pastors
is for people who will join with him or her in the
work of the ministry.
Hopefully you
are asking "what can I do to help my pastor?"
Below are just a few ideas that mean so much to your
spiritual leader:
- Pray for your pastor and family.
- Examine your expectations. Let's make sure we
are realistic in what we expect.
- Find your place in Ministry.
- Be the Christian you should be.
Pastor
Appreciation Day is simply a day set apart to give
special honor to whom honor is due. Godly men
and women who serve the Lord and his people in this
special and sacred role are due to be honored.
However, remember that every day is a good day to
encourage and appreciate your pastor!

"And you hath he
quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins...;
But God, ...hath quickened us together with Christ,
(by grace ye are saved;)" Ephesians 2:1-5
Ephesians 2:1-10 is one of
the most powerful passages on the subject of GRACE and the
change that takes place in the believer's life when we obey
the gospel.
Paul paints a picture of
the believer before and after. It may seem insensitive
for Paul to begin with the "before," after all, these things
are in the past. These things have been forgiven.
So why does Paul do this? Why does Paul dredge up the
past? Why does Paul show us the BEFORE picture?
Could it be that he does
this so that we never forget and so that we truly appreciate
the blessings we have in Christ.
We have been blessed with
"all spiritual blessings in Christ Jesus (1:3) - may we
never forget.
