Yea, they
spake against God; they said, Can
God furnish a table in the wilderness?Psalm
78:19
Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?
That was the question asked by the doubting Israelites as
they questioned God’s power and His goodness. This “Can God”
question expressed Israel’s dissatisfaction with their
present and daily allowance; they were not content with the
manna they had every day. They were not satisfied with the
daily bread (manna), but they wanted to have a table ordered
and spread with all the so-called dainties of Egypt.
The sense of the question is, can the Lord do
this for us? Can God give us a plentiful table in the
wilderness, as well as drop the manna about our tents? If He
can, why doesn’t He do it? That is a very real question that
many Christians still ask today - Can God? When you find
yourself struggling with this question, remember to read or
recite Psalm 23. Remember that God prepares a table - even
in the presence of our enemies.
The question is not so much, “Can God” but
“Will you?” Will you trust God? Will you find a place of
contentment in the Lord? Will you keep your eyes on Him who
is the author and perfecter of our faith? Will you declare
by faith, standing on His promises - GOD CAN!

I will
praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him
with thanksgiving. Psalm 69:30
David says he will praise the name of God
with a song, and magnify him with thanksgiving.
We too should give thanks and praise to God.
Let us also remember to always magnify His holy name, and
give thanks to Him always for everything. Every good and
perfect gift we have does comes from God.
We can show our appreciation to God by
singing praises to Him and spending time studying His Word
and praying to Him. When we lift our voices and take time
out of our busy schedules to spend time alone with God in
prayer we show Him we love Him and are thankful for
everything He does for us. It pleases the LORD.
Take time today to praise the name of God
with a song and magnify Him with thanksgiving.

They (God’s
mercies) are new every morning: great is Thy faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:23
The book of Lamentations describes great
anguish—and great hope—in poetic form. The main theme of the
book is God’s judgment on Judah’s sin as well as His
compassion for His people. Lamentations contain “laments” or
“loud cries” for Jerusalem and many expressions of anguish
and pain, but in chapter 3, right in the middle of the book,
there is a beautiful passage of confidence and hope.
Jeremiah suddenly changes his attitude and in
Lamentations 3:21- 23, he does a remarkable thing that we
can do too. He recalled to his mind all that God had done
for him in the past. He remembered God's faithfulness to
him. God had given many promises to Israel despite their
unfaithfulness and Jeremiah reminded himself that God keeps
His promises. Jeremiah realized that God's mercies are new
every morning and He is full of mercy and grace and
compassion.
Whatever you are facing today or will face
tomorrow, in Christ, you have this assurance - “God’s
mercies are new every morning and great is His faithfulness.

Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus
answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. John 18:37a
Jesus came as King,
disguised and robed with swaddling clothes, not royal robes,
not in a fine palace in the midst of a royal court. Instead,
Jesus came as the King of Truth in simplicity, entrusted as
a baby to humble earthly parents from Bethlehem and later
this King of Truth would gather a group of followers from
Galilee. His mission was not to conquer the political
landscape, but for God's truth to win the hearts of the
people — all people, not just the Jewish people.
Truth, however, is
dangerous for some people. Every pretender to a powerful
position and those who misuse the power that they have are
threatened by one who is genuinely qualified and powerful in
ways that they don't understand. Pretenders fear the truth.
So the true King was murdered so that they could feel secure
in the power that they had. The only problem was that once
the truth was out there, no political pretender and no
earthly power could keep truth from triumphing.
Where is Pilate's
power today? What's left of Herod's thirst for royal
recognition? And Caesar's rule? And the Roman Empire? All
are gone, even those who actually had royal and powerful
positions. On the other hand, one King still reigns over the
hearts of men and women of all races — Jesus, the King of
Truth!
